Sticky headers, floating chat widgets, and cookie banners are useful on websites—but they often ruin screenshots.

TL;DR

  • If your tool supports cleanup of sticky UI, enable it for full-page capture.
  • Otherwise, capture a section (Selected Area) or crop after capture.
  • For documentation, prefer clean PNG exports (or PDF for multi-page long captures).

Practical options (in order)

  1. Use full-page capture cleanup (if available).
  2. Capture a selected area that avoids the sticky overlay.
  3. Crop in the editor after capture.

Tip: If you’re documenting a UI, take the screenshot when the header is in its smallest state (many sites shrink the header after you scroll).

Why sticky UI causes problems

During scrolling capture, sticky elements can appear in every frame. That can create repeated overlays or cover content you actually want to show.

When PDF is a better fit

If the goal is a printable document, export a PDF so the content is paginated and easier to consume.
